Walmart

In an information-rich environment, how can we create a compelling reason for attendees to visit a specific booth and boost engagement?

The annual Shareholders Meeting is a HUGE event for Walmart stockholders, focusing on company updates and shareholder interests. The surrounding week celebrates associates, customers, and the brand.

The goal

During the event, various departments and teams provide updates on company programs for Walmart associates. Our goal was to design an engaging space that allowed the benefits team to interact more effectively with a larger number of employees.

The solution #1

Assimilating information: Print

Print materials are the most fundamental method, yet an essential method for informational events. Flyers allow individuals to read updates at their own pace and revisit the information as needed. Additionally, leveraging the popular culture among associates of collecting pins, we provided pins as merchandise.

The solution #2

Gamification

To match the festive atmosphere of the event for employees, we created a fun and engaging learning experience for the new updates using a Quiz Wheel and Cornhole Board.

With the Quiz Wheel, users spin to land on one of three categories. Removing the magnetically attached panel for that category reveals the quiz answer. The Cornhole Board features a QR code that directs users to program updates, after playing.

And beyond

And beyond

Interactive experience

One idea that the client was very excited about but didn't come to fruition due to their internal timeline was the AR experience.

How it works?

After a user scans the QR code on the standing roll-up banner, they can scan their camera across the panoramic backdrop to see AR popups.

The popups contain infographicstyle data points that drive home the value and usage of various benefits programs.

Small animated elements (icons, confetti, etc.) make the experience more fun and attention-grabbing.
